MODBURY 1 – WT BIRKALLA 2

Birkalla has continued its best start in many years beating Modbury away 2-1 on Saturday thanks to a Ryan Kitto brace.
Our boys went one down midway through the first half after Julian Torresan was forced to make several early saves to keep Birks alive.
Just before half time Kitto turned onto his non-preferred right foot and hammered home a bullet from thirty metres which left the Modbury keeper stranded .
He scored again from close range early in the second half and we held on for the remainder of the game.

Curtis Rowe and JP Cirillo continued their great start to the season and played solidly in defence and on a warm afternoon Scott Nagel was tireless providing runs down the left.
The lads created many opportunities through the midfield work of Lawrence D’Arrigo and Paul Radice but we weren’t able to finish in front of goal.

A tough home game against Croydon looms large this week.

RESSIES BEST NOT ENOUGH

MODBURY 2 – WT BIRKALLA 0

Coach Aldo Maricic says it was the best his side has played yet our boys went down 2-0 away at Modbury.
He said ‘We should have been 8-0 up but couldn’t find a way to score ‘such was their domination and the extent of their opportunities.
He was particularly happy with the way the boys knocked the ball around and played football.
For the third game in a row Chris Skull was very impressive and must be close to earning a senior game whilst Finn Hayhurst and Anthony Tropeano played well at left and right defence.
