WT BIRKALLA 3 – ADELAIDE BLUE EAGLES 1

A stunning two weeks for Birkalla with a 3-1 win over league leaders Blue Eagles just days after defeating Campbelltown.
Birks are now 5 point clear in fourth spot and are growing in confidence weekly.

In form J.P. Cirillo was forced out before the game with flu which allowed Harris Vuckic to slot into right back.
On the other side Kurtis Rowe took up where he left off last week and played his best game of the season which earned him the HWY voucher in the club after the game. He’s played well in all ten games this year and has become so reliable in defence.

After battling injury for several weeks Andrew Ciarla is starting to show his class and is controlling the midfield.
Jordan Watson opened proceedings slotting home a penalty after Paul Radice had been brought down then later in the half Radice lobbed the keeper with an absolute classic piece of skill.

Blue Eagles got one back before Jordan Watson sent Ryan Kitto through with a perfectly weighted pass and Kitto made no mistake.
It’s a confident unit under Steve Degiovionello at the moment and anyone present at the games will tell you our lads are entertaining and brilliant to watch.

Jordan Watson will sit out next week unfortunately after receiving his fifth yellow card.

Reserves Share Points with Blue Eagles

WT BIRKALLA 2- ADELAIDE BLUE EAGLES 2

More frustration for our reserves playing another solid game without being able to fin d the winning goal which according to coach Aldo Maricic has been the story of the season.

Sam Shoemark found the back of the net as did Anthony Tropiano with ‘the goal of the season, a classic strike into the top corner.

One of these boys may get a call up this week with Seniors striker Jordan Watson set to miss through yellow cards.

Unfortunately poor defending cost the side a crucial goal but on the positive side of the ledger Japanese striker Taro who signed during the week made an encouraging start.

Finley Hayhurst was awarded best player with Daniel Polli second best and Peter Karakasislis third.
Coach Maricic doesn’t want too much to change but he’s imploring the boys to become more ruthless.

Under 18’s Go Down to Azzurri

WT BIRKALLA 0 – ADELAIDE BLUE EAGLES 1

A couple of key injuries didn’t help but when our boys went own a goal in the first half it was always going to be tough for Jason Hayhurst and his boys.

According to the coach our lads don’t remain competitive for an entire game which has been a bit of a pattern throughout the season so far.

Captain Ewan McDonald was named best for Birks whilst Connor Moss continues is having a very consistent season and had another good game.
